FLINT combines a scintillator crystal, a Si-array photomultiplier (SiPM), a temperature-stabilized bias supply, and a full digital multichannel analyzer into one compact, thermally isolated unit. It connects to a PC over a single USB cable for data, control, and power.

The FLINT device integrates in a single enclosure all the components needed to detect gamma radiation and build its energy distribution. It can be ordered with different scintillator crystal types and sizes; the standard models use a round NaI(Tl) crystal in 2x2 or 3x3 inch sizes.
FLINT uses Si-arrays as photomultipliers (SiPM), optimally positioned for the best light collection and energy resolution. Power for the scintillation and SiPMs is generated internally by a temperature-compensated supply, which keeps spectrum peak shift and resolution deterioration to a minimum.
A full-featured digital MCA processes the pulses from the scintillator. Integrating it into the probe minimizes noise pickup and supports high spectroscopy performance. The MCA offers up to 4096 channels at 32-bit depth, a tunable trapezoidal digital shaper, a digital baseline restorer, and an advanced pile-up rejector, with both Pulse-Height Analysis (PHA) and Multi-Channel Scaling (MCS) acquisition.
The device ships in a compact aluminum enclosure with a single USB mini-B connector to the PC. A basic acquisition package handles setup, control, acquisition, and visualization. The FLINT-NAI-PRO models add the full-featured bGamma gamma-ray and activity quantification software. FLINT can also be built into any project or instrument through the BrightSpec SDK, a set of programming libraries compatible with Windows, Linux, and macOS.
