**[SrI2(Eu)](https://www.berkeleynucleonics.com/srl2eu-strontium-iodide), Europium Doped Strontium Iodide** is a very bright, relatively slow scintillator with very good proportionality. Typical energy resolutions are 3.5% @ 662 keV and 6% @ 122 keV. The material is quite radiopure. Due to its intrinsic self-absorption (small stokes shift), the crystal requires some special surface preparation techniques. The long decay time requires very long (digital) shaping time constants (> 10 µs) which complicates high count rate behavior. The self-absorption limits the maximum size of the crystal to approximately 4 cm.
