Berkeley Nucleonics Corp - About us

Berkeley Nucleonics Corporation is a leading manufacturer of precision electronic instrumentation for test, measurement and nuclear research. BNC has its corporate headquarters in San Rafael, California with several additional manufacturing facilities and sales offices located throughout the United States.
The Company maintains an international network of manufacturer's representatives - including Optilas, Canberra Packard, ORTEC, Coherent and Seiko - to provide for precision instrumentation needs globally.
Founded in 1960, BNC initially developed custom pulse generators. The Company gradually became known for meeting requirements for high precision and stability, and for providing instruments of unsurpassed reliability and performance.
BNC continues to maintain a leadership position in development of custom pulse, signal, light and function generators. BNC designs incorporate the latest innovations in software and hardware engineering, surface mount production, and automated testing procedures. The BNC Model 625A Function Generator has been the recipient of several electronics industry awards, including the Cahners Electronics Group's 'T&M Product of the Year' award for 1999.
Innovative BNC engineering developments have resulted in a highly regarded line of Digital Delay Generators (DDG). To date, BNC has introduced 15 different Digital Delay Generators with delay resolution as low as 50 pico-seconds. Annual media surveys consistently rank BNC in the top echelon of providers of DDGs.
In the mid 1990s, BNC began building a strong market position in radiation detection and analysis instrumentation. In 1997 the BNC Nuclear Products Group introduced the SAM 935 Surveillance and Measurement system, the first real-time analysis tool for identification and quantification of multiple radionuclides.
BNC nuclear spectroscopy products now serve a broad cross-section of industries involved in environmental monitoring, health physics, emergency response and power generation. The company has recently begun offering a nationwide radiation detection, surveillance and measurement training program, providing attendees with a comprehensive understanding of principles and techniques for isotope identification and analysis. BNC was proud to co-sponsor a radiological detection training seminar focusing on techniques for emergency response and anti-terrorism with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in fall 2002.
In 2008, Berkeley Nucleonics responded to the budget constraints in the technical community with a line of low cost test equipment for general research applications. The sub-$2000 product line offers many of the features needed by the test engineer on a bench without the costly components found in higher priced products. The new line includes a power supply, oscilloscope, arbitrary waveform generator and universal frequency counter.
Early in 2010, the company was recognized by the US DOE (Hanford Site) and the US DOD for it’s high performance isotope identification technology. Systems were deployed for field measurements both in man portable and vehicle based applications. The core technology was also adopted by the Department of Defense after a lengthy test and evaluation period in large scale deployments.
BNC is committed to maintaining its tradition of technical excellence into the new millennium by continually strengthening support channels and being responsive to the rapidly changing technological priorities of its customers.
